Boating is a favorite past time on Lake Arrowhead. How can you get your boat on the Lake? Follow these steps to register a new boat or to re-register your boat for the current year. Enjoy the water!
Step 1. MEMBERSHIP
Only ALA Members may launch a boat. Be sure to purchase a membership along with or prior to registering your boat.
Step 2. OWNERSHIP
The owner of the property in Arrowhead Woods must be the Member on ALA records and must be the owner on title of the boat.
Step 3. DMV REGISTRATION
Submit a copy of your current DMV registration. Current DMV stickers must be displayed on both sides of bow.
Current DMV registration must be on record in the ALA office. California DMV must be renewed in odd years: 2013, 2015, 2017, etc. If the DMV registration of your boat is listed as expired on your account, it means that we have not yet received your renewed information. You must send a current DMV registration before a boat decal will be sent to you.
Step 4. INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
Submit proof of proper insurance.
Power and sail boats: A current certificate of insurance must be on file in the ALA office naming Arrowhead Lake Association as "Additional Insured." ALA does not automatically receive renewed certificates so please remit a copy of your current insurance for ALA to have on file. If your insurance for your boat is listed as expired on your account, it means that we have not yet received your renewed information. You must send a current certificate of insurance with the following requirements before a boat decal will be sent to you.
Boats without motors can be covered by your homeowner's insurance policy. Please send a copy of the declarations page of your homeowner's insurance for our records.
Step 5. BOAT INFORMATION
BOATS NEW TO LAKE ARROWHEAD MUST PHYSICALLY MEASURE 26 FEET OR LESS, END TO END, (Including motor and swim step). See Boating and Swimming Rules D-2 Ensure your boat meets the size requirements of ALA and the State of Califiornia. Power and sail boats must be a minimum of 12 feet in length with a maximum length of 26 feet. Small boats are non-motorized vessels such as kayaks, canoes and pedal boats and must be less than 12 feet in length.
The maximum number of boats (including power, sail and small boats) that may be registered per property is five (5).
Step 6. ALA REGISTRATION FEES
The current year's registration fees are determined by the Board of Directors and appear on the Fee Schedule.
Step 7. BOAT DECAL
A decal is required to launch your boat or moor it in a boat slip. Your ALA decal must be displayed on starboard bow or mast. You will be issued a Day Use decal for your power or sail boat if you do not own a dock and are not renting a dock. For dock owners and renters, you will be issued an overnight decal for your power or sail boat. Day Use boaters may not moor their boat overnight. Small boat decals will be issued for small non-motored boats.
Step 8. BOAT OPERATOR LICENSE
A valid ALA boat operator license is required to operate ANY vessel on Lake
Arrowhead including small boats such as kayaks and canoes. The ALA Lake Safety Test must be submitted for all new and renewed licenses. The fee is $65.00 for a new license, and $30 for a renewal (A renewal is considered a license that has expired within the last 12 months). Your online Member Account will show all the licenses and expirations on your account.
All ALA fees must be paid before a decal
can be issued to launch your boat or moor
your boat in a slip.
Fees include:
Step 9. LAUNCH YOUR BOAT
To launch your boat, view the launch ramp Hours of Operation. All boats will undergo a Quagga and Zebra mussel inspection at time of launch and removal from the lake. If you are returning your boat to Lake Arrowhead and the inspection band remains intact and undamaged, you may launch without an inspection. Please bring your boat to the ramp CLEAN, DRAINED and DRY. Your help in keeping Lake Arrowhead free from these invasive species is greatly appreciated.
Step 10. BOAT REGISTRATION RULES
Finally, review the Boat Registration Rules for full details of what is required by boat owners.
